National Defence Course

The National Defence College awards students a certificate in strategic management of state resources and a master's degree in strategic and security studies. Upon fulfilling the academic requirements of the program, students will be able to:

Certificates awarded

The college awards a Master's degree in Strategic and Security Studies or any degrees that may be introduced in the future.
A certificate of attendance and participation may also be awarded upon completion of the course requirements without passing the assessment.

College Admission Requirements

Have obtained a bachelor's degree with a minimum cumulative grade point average (CGPA) of 3.0 out of 4.0, or equivalent. Direct entry master's degrees that do not require a bachelor's degree (these degrees are typically awarded in the UK, France, and Australia) are accepted, and the bachelor's degree is equivalent to 120 credit hours according to the National Qualifications Authority in the UAE.
Previous qualifications must be certified by the Ministry of Education if the degree was issued by a licensed higher education institution in the United Arab Emirates, or the candidate must obtain recognition and equivalence from the Ministry if the qualification was obtained from an institution outside the United Arab Emirates.
All candidates for admission to the college must submit TOEFL and IELTS test results during the August registration period, regardless of their previous qualifications. For admission to the college's master's degree program, candidates must achieve a minimum TOEFL score of 550 (213 on the computer-based test, 79-120 on the internet-based test) or 6.0 on the IELTS. English language test results that are more than two years old will not be accepted. English-speaking students who were born and educated in a country where English is the official language, such as the United States, the United Kingdom, Canada, and Australia, are exempt.
Accepted English language tests include the local TOEFL test (paper-based) and the international test (online); and the Academic and General IELTS tests. Tests must be conducted by an accredited testing center such as AMIDEAST, the British Council, the Center for Excellence in Applied Research and Training (CERT), etc.

Conditional admission to college

The college has established guidelines for conditional admission for students who have met all admission requirements except for English language proficiency. There are no other options for conditional admission to the college.

English Language Proficiency: A candidate with an IELTS score of 6.0 or a TOEFL score of 550, or equivalent, must achieve the college's required English language score and submit it to the college by the end of the student's first semester in the master's program. Students who do not submit the required English language test score by December 17 of the current academic year will not be eligible for the master's degree.

Documents required to be submitted to the National Defence College

The following documents must be submitted and will be part of the student's permanent records:

A copy of the bachelor's degree.
A certificate or equivalency from the Ministry of Education in the country.
A copy of the bachelor's degree with the cumulative grade point average.
TOEFL/IELTS test results, no more than two years old by the August registration date.
A recent copy of the curriculum vitae.
A copy of the highest academic degree obtained (Master's or PhD) with transcripts.
A copy of the passport.
A copy of the Emirates ID.
